College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation

Spring 2024

College Hill CURC is a non-profit community development corporation located in the College Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati. CHCURC works closely with residents, neighborhood associations, business owners, and partners to revitalize the Hamilton Avenue Business District through Affordable Housing, Economic Development, Small Business Support, and Community Engagement.

As a marketing and graphic design co-op, my responsibilities included marketing tasks, social media management, event photography and photo editing, as well as design and branding development. The following are some examples of projects I had the opportunity to lead during this experience.

2023 Year In Review

My first project was to design College Hill CURC’s annual Year In Review booklet. I was given creative liberty to design the layouts and creative elements for this booklet, while also following the given color pallets and general branding guide of College Hill CURC.

PROCESS

After brainstorming and creating a style guide for the layout with my supervisor, I initially created a rough draft of each page with my desired layout of given content.

Using that as a base, it went through multiple rounds of iterations where I focused on simplification and balancing content out with white space, as well as refining language and layout.

Avenue Experience

I created a custom brand design for CHCURC’s annual Avenue Experience.

The Avenue experience is an event where the community is invited for behind the scene tours of development projects in College Hill’s Business district, as well as celebrate the community with games and awards.

My intention was to use a bold and unexpected color pallet as well as a fun, animated design to highlight the vibrance and individuality of the community and its members.

HANOBE SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

I created custom social media ads in collaboration with HaNoBe Apartments to advertise for their available commercial spaces.

Through this process, I created color schemes for each available space and developed marketing strategies and created slogans go gain interest in the available units.
